About KWDA

KWDA was founded in Sevenoaks in 1982 as an information and phone helpline service for the community of the Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells area.  We are a voluntary organisation affiliated to the British Dyslexia Association and funded by our membership, made up of schools and other organisations; adult dyslexics and parents of dyslexic children.

What we do

Information is offered free via our Helplines to members and non-members alike.

We hold regular meetings and workshops with specialist speakers on relevant topics, such as “New Phonic approach to Spelling & Reading”, “Technology for Dyslexia” and “Maths, Dyslexia & Dyscalculia”.  All are welcome to attend and our open meetings are free to members with a small charge for non-members.

We keep our members up to date with our website, Twitter & Facebook pages and a British Dyslexia Association magazine three times a year.

We run a free Saturday children’s fun club and family fun days for dyslexic and dyspraxic children who have lost self-esteem.

We strive to bring our members the most recent and relevant developments in dyslexia and provide local support and resources.
